OVS Graduation Requirements while meeting

College Eligibility Req’s (a-g)

HS Graduation and College preparation requirements can be met in a number of ways. Orchard View School students may take classes at the Santa Rosa Junior College to meet their HS graduation, career and college goals.  Students must be enrolled in 20 credits (usually 4 classes) to meet high school attendance requirements.  Beyond that, many students find a number of classes at the Junior college that expand their interests and skills while helping them to also earn college credits and start career and certificate paths.

10 Credit of High School credit is = to 1 year of credit (5 credits per semester)

A 3 unit college level class is also = to 10 HS credits or 1 year of studies.

Additionally, colleges look favorably on students taking advantage of advanced studies while in high school.  This can be a natural extension of lifelong learning.

Well-organized students are often able to take 4-8 SRJC classes during their years in high school while concurrently taking their HS classes.  Some students are well on their way to earning over a semester of college credits or completing a career certificate before their graduations.

  • To see if a class at the SRJC meets requirements in a certain a-g category, go to the UC Course List
  • They ask you to cross-reference with  ASSIST for specific College and Major requirements.
  • To find out which specific classes are needed for Certificate programs, visit Certificate Programs at the SRJC website.
  • Visit IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) to learn about which classes at the SRJC will satisfy the requirements for AA degrees and to transfer to a campus in the California State University or University of California system.
