Description
This class is designed for students who have taken Spanish 1 previously. The students will sample the language through a variety of topics.  We will review appropriate vocabulary for greetings, school-related items, family members, clothes, food, days, months, weather, clock times. We will review verb tenses and learn new tenses to advance conversational skills. 
We will learn simple dialogues that incorporate high frequency words, common verbs and adjectives. We will learn to write coherent paragraphs containing descriptions of people, places, and everyday activities.    Art, music and storytelling will be incorporated into the daily lesson plan. Students will be exposed to the many Spanish speaking countries through their culture and  traditions.   The class is taught in Spanish and English.

In class on 3/9, Spanish 2 & 3 reviewed present, preterite, imperfect, and present progressive tenses for Wednesday's quiz. We read an article and talked about Un dia sin nosotras.  We finished episodio Guisados/Taco Chronicles.
Homework for Spanish 2 & 3 due on Wed. Mar. 11:  Study for Wednesday's quiz on verb tenses (present, preterite, imperfect, and present progressive).  Finish TPRS story and bring to class on Wed.

Review verb conjugations for present, preterite, imperfect, and present progressive tenses. (Present progressive - ando/iendo   Estar + verb:  Estoy nadando. Estás comiendo.) We will have a quiz on Wed. the 11th.  Create a brief lesson on one of the tenses. Continue to work on TPRS stories.  A rough draft of both text and images should be completed by Wed. the 11th.

In class on 3/2 Spanish 2 & 3 corrected the quiz on direct object pronouns. We worked on our TPRS stories and began the artwork.

In class on 2/19 we practiced direct object pronouns in groups of 2 - 3 students.  
Homework: Spanish 2 & 3 due on 2/24:  Prepare a lesson using your AR verb hand out to teach Direct Object Pronouns.  Can be an actual lesson to teach the class or a worksheet with 12 questions of different styles.  Example: 1)  Yo hablé con Juan.  Yo (la, lo) hablé. Example: 2) Juana dio la respuesta a la maestra.  Rewrite using the correct direct object.
 
Describe in preterite/imperfect tense what is happening in the picture of the city (hand out).
 
If you didn't already write a "mood" story, here are some sentences to get you started. Choose one sentence, then write a two paragraph story using one of these moods: suspenso, tristeza, comedia, conflicto.   Please bring on Monday.

In class on 2/10 Spanish 2 & 3 read out loud and formed questions for chapters 10 & 11 of Robo en la noche. We played Loteria.
Homework Spanish 2 & 3 due on 2/12:  Create a quiz of 10 questions with answers using Direct Object Pronouns.  Use different formats for questions: Example: Ustedes comieron diez manzanas. Ustedes las comieron.  Example:  amiga autobus mi el toma.  Mi amiga toma el autobus. Mi amiga lo toma.

In class on 2/3 we listened to and analyzed Tiempo de amor (Las cafeteras). Students dictated the lyrics to their partner.   In pairs, Sp. 2 & 3 practiced imperfect/preterite tense and direct objects.
Homework Spanish 2 due on 2/5: Write two stories each with at least two paragraphs.  The first story will describe what you did yesterday using preterite tense and the second story will describe what you did every summer when you were younger using imperfect.tense.  Bring to class on Wed. ready to present to the the rest of the class.

On 11/18, we learned the conjugation of regular ar verbs in the preterite (past) tense.  We listened to the song "Soy yo" by Bomba estereo.

In class on 10/23/2019, Spanish 2 took a quiz on the progressive tense.  Spanish 3 took a quiz on "corrigiendo los errores."  Both Spanish 2 & 3 read and described the lyrics of Te Guardo.  I continued to meet with students individually to discuss their assignments, class participation, etc.

On 10/21 in class, Spanish 2 & 3 reviewed numbers 1- 100 by playing Bingo. Spanish 2 reviewed the progressive tense in preparation for our quiz on the 23rd.  We listened to "Te guardo" and will discuss and analyze on the 23rd.
Homework: Spanish 2 - study for quiz on the 23rd. on progressive tense...estar + verb(ando/iendo).

On 10/16, Spanish 2 & 3 reviewed progressive progressive tense.  We listened to and analyzed "Último beso." Spanish 3 read chapter 4 (Robo en la noche) out loud. Both Spanish 2 & 3 answered questions about Robo.

In class on 10/7, Spanish 2/3 students worked independently on homework assignments and extra credit. Sp.2 students read the first two chapters of Robo en la noche in the present tense.  Spanish 3 students read the first two chapters of Robo en la noche in the preterite/imperfect tense.I met  with students to discuss past homework assignments, quizzes, and extra credit.

In class on 9/24 Spanish 2 reviewed stem changing verbs to prepare for Wednesday's quiz.  Several of the students actually prepared some questions for the quiz!  Spanish 3 reviewed imperfect vs. preterite to prepare for Wednesday's quiz.  We watched episiodios 3 & 4 of Buena gente.

On 9/16 we watched a video and listened to a song about stem changing verbs.  We reviewed and practiced the rules for stem changing verbs by using question and answer exercises. We also reviewed the conjugations of the verb ESTAR.  We corrected homework from 9/9.
Homework: Spanish 2   Due Wed. 9/18
Write a list of 3 verbs in each of the stem changing categories:  u:ue (jugar),  e:ie (cerrar),  e:i (pedir) for a total of 9 verbs.   Then write questions with each of the 9 verbs.

On 9/9 students interviewed each other about their city/town and presented interviews to the class. We listened to and analyzed the song "La cumbia del mole" by Lila Downs.  We discussed websites  and other ways to practice Spanish outside of class...15 minutes recommended every day.

In class on 1/6/2019 we listened to and analyzed Vivir mi vida (Marc Anthony).  Students shared games they are currently constructing.

On Oct. 30 Spanish 2 and 3 reviewed and practiced stem changing verbs by interviewing one another. We started a review of the verb gustar and verbs like gustar.
Spanish 2 homework due Wed. Oct. 2: Write a total of twelve sentences using the verbs gustar, encantar, quedar, doler (stem changer), caer, and molestar. Six of the sentences should be in form of a question. On Wed. Oct. 2 we will have a quiz on these verbs.
Spanish 3 homework due Wed. Oct. 2: Review the rules of verbs like gustar at this website:
Write a three paragraph story with verbs like gustar.  Story should include five familiar verbs as well as at least five new verbs that you can find towards bottom of http://spanishhackers.com/verbs-like-gustar/#tab-con-11 (total of ten verbs in story).  On Wed. In class on 9/18, Spanish 2 & 3 listened to audios from Spanish listening.org.  We watched the first two episodes of Buena Gente.  We went over my weekly grading/point system:
Attendance 25 pts,  participation 25 pts,  homework 25 pts,  quizzes/tests 25 pts,  extra credit 25 pts.
We will have a short quiz every Wednesday that will contain material recently learned.
Homework Spanish 2:  Read and complete the questions for El almuerzo de Lola y Sara.
Prepare for Wednesday's quiz on stem changing verbs as well as ser y estar.
