¡Bienvenido a Spanish 1! Esta es una clase introductoria de español abierta a estudiantes con cero a cualquier nivel de experiencia. En clase nos enfocaremos en comprender y fortalecer las habilidades de escucha, permitiendo que el habla y la escritura emerjan naturalmente a través del juego, historias, arte, entrevistas, investigaciones, música, películas y simplemente divagando por el campus señalando probabilidades y fines al azar y hablando de ellos.  
El objetivo de esta clase es que te comuniques y disfrutes el proceso de hablar español, para que estés bien preparado y ansioso por seguir aprendiendo español y cualquier otro idioma en el camino.

I'm thinking of all of you and hope you are well. I hope that continuing through the rest of the semester, you will be able to explore, employ, and enjoy all the online tools you need to sail through the rest of the semester and become fluent in Spanish! 
From now on, I will be posting tareas every Friday, and you have all week to turn them in or post something else you did in Spanish (and share ideas!) on Google Classroom. I am posting the following assignments into a fresh, NEW Google Classroom. Please use the code below.

In class: Watch video of tamales and try to transcribe what you hear. Learn about the Buitre Quebrantahuesos from Zoe. Read the story.

3. Watch a cooking video on the food you chose from your comida project. Slow down the volume on youtube.  Try to write down as much of the dialogue as you can understand! You may want to put closed captions up, but beware- it isn’t always correct (of course!) (50 points)

1.) Write 20 original sentences in story form or not for the first 10-AR verbs.

Finish madlibs and share.  Discuss what further details to add to a story to get more information.  Review foods in each category, el desayuno, el almuerzo, y la cena. Collect vocabulary words in spiral notebooks. 


  1. La Comida research project (50 points) 
  2. Write a story using the madlib layout + the additional details discussed.  Rewrite the story using this format to write the story and illustrate.  To be used for begining of class reading. (Be creative about words and illustrations in the boxes, no fixed rules, just follow the madlib story pattern.) (50 points)

In class: Review how to make "Agua de Jamaica", read, talk about Flojo Ojo, do Madlibs.
 
Homework:
1.) Complete all picture dictionaries from "Receta de Tamales" (see previous for a copy of the recipe)
2.) Create a 3 column chart in your spiral notebook (or elsewhere if you need to). -El Desayuno,
-El Almuerzo (or La Comida), and -La Cena.   
Cut out pictures from the Safeway ad, translate what the food item is
Must have at least 20 common food items recorded.  Be sure to learn those words!

Read, write, make logical, illogical, interesting, funny, creative, or plagarized sentences using -AR verbs.  Learn the rule of conjugation: Second verb in a sentences is (usually) not conjugated.

Test on tamale ingredients, discuss “agua de jamaica”

  1. All homework from Wednesday is due Monday (to give students extra time. De nada.) 
  2. Read the back of the recipe for tamales de frijoles.  Continue filling the picture dictionary with new words (this part may be slightly more complicated, but you can do it!)

1.) Look at this list of vocabulary words reflecting feelings of satisfaction on the Inventory of Feelings and Needs.   Highlight words you already know (divirtido-fun;funny), and any cognates (words that are basically the same in Spanish and English. 

2.) Write five sentences that best reflect you using. Estoy……
