Deborah Friedman

Deborah was born and raised in New Jersey. She came to Sonoma County to attend Sonoma State University where she received her B.A. in Music. She taught music for 25 years at a local Waldorf school where she directed both a high school and middle school choir, led an instrumental ensemble, and taught music theory and singing in the classroom. More recently, she received her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and student-taught in 4 Sonoma County school districts. Deborah spent three years at Gravenstein Elementary School in Sebastopol teaching 4th and 5th grade language arts and math, and then 2nd grade. She is now a Supervising Teacher at Orchard View School working with 1st through 5th grade students. Deborah teaches two "Fun With Numbers!" enrichment classes where we discover the beauty in math! The classes introduce students to age-appropriate, real-world concepts such as platonic solids, cartesian planes, tangrams, math puzzles, and reinforcement of basic multiplication facts through artistic activities.
